My wonderful and hardworking Padre recently got promoted to the rank of Captain in the Honolulu Fire Department. Today was his last day at the fire station that he was stationed at for the past 8+ years. It is a bitter sweet moment. He loves the people that he works with. They are a wonderful crew, but they already have a captain there, so he's being transferred to the Kalihi fire station. In celebration of his promotion, his crew made him a special Prime rib dinner and we begrudgingly agreed to stop by the station and partake in that wonderful meal =o)
But before the festivities began, we stopped by Waikele Shopping Center and shopped 'til Ava and my little brothers begged, no more! We found some good deals at Carter's; one of which was a cute pair of zebra print hot shorts! Hahaha....slightly reminiscent of pretty woman and that 'profession' but I don't care! I think it's CUTE! Ava has also figured out that the fun cars and machines that have lights on them actually
move....thanks mom!

Once we got all that shopping out of our system, we headed over to the fire station, where Ava had fun eating, playing on the exercise equipment and the fire truck. We also took a sibling (and niece) picture next to the truck my Dad drives.

She had so much fun eating 'by herself' that we ended up having to change her clothes. Here's some pictures of her with her hot shorts, flirting with her firefighter uncles and telling everyone her new cute phrase-- 'I no know!' (translation: 'i don't know').

We had a great time with everyone and surely will miss all the firefighters there and their wonderful families, but so begins a new chapter in my Daddy's life and we couldn't be more excited, nervous and happy for him =o)

Wow! That's wonderful news about your Dad. Congratulations! Ava's hair has gotten so long since we saw her at her birthday party. I can't believe how long it's been since then. Time sure does fly by. We miss y'all so much!
ava is super-cute - especially in her new zebra hot shorts. hehe. she is getting so big, and her hair is growing out/in. getting thicker. that's awesome for your dad - getting promoted. and the food sounds yummy.
